19 Dec Monday trip to Gordon's Bay and area

As you probably noticed, I got the wrong date on Sunday. Today we took a 65 KM drive of which 30 KM was a,long the coast line on the edge of the mountains, passing thru several small beach lined hamlets, namely Klienmond, Betty's Bay and Rocky Point, home of the small Africa Penquin. The mountain drive provided beautiful scenery that we never seem to get enough of. We reached Gordon's Bay as we neared our destination and it is another tourist town that never seems to run out of beaches. It is not hard to see why it attracts visitors from Cape Town and other areas of ZA with it's many beaches, caravan parks, chalets B and B and guest house .
Gordon's Bay actually runs into another city of about 50,000 ( just my guess as they do not post the population) but it too has miles of Beach Waterfront. We decide to stop by and take a stroll on the waterfront and we just happen to stumble into a Mall. Carroll just wanted to " look" which means that I have to get out my credit card. She found a dress shop and after a half hour of " try on's " she left with 2 outfits which I advised her , was her birthday present since she got ear rings earlier in the week for Christmas.
Then we cruised along the waterfront until we came to a huge Mall in the city of Somerset. It was fairly crowded with Christmas shoppers but I needed to visit a Vodafone store to ask about checking my SIM card in my iPad. As it turned out I could not remember my password ( I have too dam many of them ) so that idea failed. Then we walked thru the mall looking for a sweater for Carroll, as she burnt a hole in the only one she brought. And yes we do need a sweater on some evenings. Then we grabbed some lunch and since the guy next to me was friendly, we had a conversation about politic and mainly their gov't and it policies.
Then we headed home and on the way we stopped at a " Farm Stall" for coffee. A Farm Stall is a coffee shop/ resturaunt/ small grocery store and this one had a bakery all in one. We also found room for desert which we definely did not need but had it in lieu of supper. After our coffee wE drove home and just " wasted" the rest of the day. I should mention that the neighbour gave us a Lobster about 7 pm so we could not refuse such an offer so we cooked it and that was supper. Yep !!!! That's how to waste a day in ZA.
